We are currently seeking a Lead Ground Control Engineer to join our Mines Technical Services team in Sudbury. This permanent onsite position requires Monday to Friday work.

Responsibilities

• Recommend actions to ensure the safety and stability of mine excavations are maintained with respect to geotechnical standards, Vale’s policies, and legislated requirements.
• Update the Mine Design Package on an annual basis with inputs from various departments at a mine site.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical support and coordination for managing the site‑specific Ground Control and Seismic Risk Management Programs and work closely with the technical execution teams at the mine sites.
• Assist at the mine operation to conduct geo‑mechanical risk assessment of the annual mine execution plans to ensure that mining sequence and mine layouts are optimized to reduce the risk to safety and production.
