Summary:

The Lactation Consultant/ Childbirth Coordinator is responsible and accountable to work in collaboration with all members of the healthcare team to provide lactation care and assist with childbirth education. The role of the Lactation Consultant/ Childbirth educator is to promote, support and protect breastfeeding as the optimal food choice for infants, as well as assist in the prenatal education. The Lactation Consultant/ Childbirth Educator will develop, maintain, and coordinate support services for mothers in need of the service, whether self or physician referred. The Lactation Consultant/ Childbirth Educator will also be responsible for providing current education updates to nursing staff, providers, and office staff for further depth of support to mothers and babies.
