**Description**

Oversees day to day operations of clinical or research laboratory(s):

+ Directs the administrative functions and customer service in area(s) of responsibility.
+ Coordinates technical functions with technical coordinators/supervisors, directors and other hospital departments.
+ Develops policies/procedures, oversees training programs, administers budgets, recommends capital equipment purchases, and ensures department meets established laboratory and hospital objectives and complies with regulatory guidelines.
+ Keeps abreast of regulatory changes, ensures Quality Assurance and safety compliance with federal regulations and certifying agencies.
+ Ensures preparation for inspections, maintenance of accurate records, procedure manuals, record storage and monitors results of proficiency testing.
