The University of Alabama Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Surgery is currently recruiting faculty candidates to be considered for an open rank/open tenure faculty appointment in the Division of Transplantation. The successful candidate will be expected to meet clinical, research and teaching needs, as applicable, in the Department of Surgery. UAB has successfully completed more than 14, organ transplants since , when we performed Alabamas first kidney transplant. Today, our nationally ranked hospital one of the busiest transplant centers in the nation performs more than transplants annually, including heart, lung, kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestine transplants, as well as multi-organ procedures.
