Histotechnician - Full Time - Days

Department: Clinical Laboratory

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and Histotechnology Supervisor, prepares microscopic slides of tissues for examination by the pathologist.

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Performs assigned technical duties such as logging in specimens, changing solutions, instrumentation checks, accurate labeling, filing, changing of reagents/solutions and proper storing and disposing of specimens.
• Provides assistance to pathologist in cutting of tissue sections and surgical/autopsy specimens for analysis.
• Assist with preparing slides/specimens/blocks for send outs that are requested by the pathologist for consultation or request from an outside facility for review.
• Maintains open communication with the Histology Supervisor, Pathologist and Laboratory management.
