Position Overview
A Heavy Equipment Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs large machinery like bulldozers, excavators, and cranes, diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using manuals and diagnostic tools, performing preventative maintenance, replacing parts, and keeping detailed repair logs to ensure equipment reliability for construction, farming, or transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Diagnosis: Perform thorough visual and computer-aided inspections of engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems to identify malfunctions.
- Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn fluids and filters.
- Repairs: Disassemble, repair, or replace defective or worn parts, using hand/power tools, welders, and hoists.
