Summary Ophthalmology Technicians in the VA Caribbean Care System (VACHS) support Ophthalmologist in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, follow up care and patient counseling. The Health Technician (Ophthalmology) performs a range of standard, complex diagnostic procedures, assists during clinic based surgical procedures, educates patients, assists with the education of medical students, residents and ophthalmic technician students. Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Checks and performs calibration of technical ophthalmology screening instruments. Serves as liaison between the Ophthalmologist, Optometrist, Eye Clinic Personnel, Licensed Opticians, Patients and VA System. Receives the patient and prepares them the eye exam, including Chief Complaint, physical history reason for visit, pertinent signs and symptoms, current medication allergies, past ocular and general medical history, family history ocular and general medical history, review or Indication and allergies...
