The Head Registered Veterinary Technician is the DVM’s main medical support. They help the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis, and treatment phases. They assist the veterinarians in being more efficient by handling technical work and administrative details. They play a crucial role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets, and providing ongoing care for patients (under the direction of a DVM). The Head RVT leads the technical support staff and sets an example for all staff in terms of attitude, work ethic, communication, corrections, and patient advocacy and care. POSITION OVERVIEW EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent Current RVT license Previous on-the-job training required EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum two years experience as a registered veterinary technician.
