Position Overview
Summary: The role of the Patient Navigator, Geriatric Oncology, is to assist our patients over the age of 65 and family members to effectively access healthcare services. The Navigator will help individuals overcome obstacles ranging from financial and insurance difficulties to communication and information challenges; medical system barriers such as missed appointments; and emotional concerns. Functions as a liaison between the physician, patient/significant other, and third party payers to coordinate necessary services to facilitate care.
As the Clinical supervisor β will oversee initial training and ongoing education of clinic medical assistant. Will be available in the clinic setting to provide nursing oversight of the out- patients seen in the physicianβs clinical practice.
Education: In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of a High School education, must also have a Degree in Nursing and hold a current Rhode Island licensure.
