Become a vital part of ferry operations with Halifax Regional Municipality as a Relief Engineer/Deckhand. This full-time role combines engineering duties with deckhand responsibilities on Halifax Transit ferries.
As a Relief Engineer/Deckhand, you will report to the Supervisors for Ferry Operations, while ultimately taking direction from the Vessel’s Captain. Your primary responsibilities include maintaining machinery cleanliness, assisting crew members, and operating ferry doors for passenger safety. This role also involves minor repairs and planned maintenance when assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct duties as per the Ferry Operations Manual
• Maintain cleanliness of machinery and ferry cabins
• Assist crew as directed by the Captain
• Operate overhead doors safely
• Complete Engine Room Log accurately
Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• Experience with Caterpillar engines and Twin Disc gearboxes
