Position Overview
S ustainability is a broad, holistic philosophy focused on meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) is the tangible framework, data, and set of metrics used by investors and companies to measure and report on this sustainability.
The concepts operate together: sustainability is the ultimate goal, and ESG provides the scorecard to get there.
The Three Pillars of ESG
Environmental (E): Measures how a company interacts with the planet. This covers climate change, carbon emissions, resource efficiency, and biodiversity loss.
Social (S): Focuses on human impact. This includes Labor practices, workplace safety, diversity and inclusion, and community well-being.
Governance (G): Addresses corporate integrity and transparency. This involves executive pay, board diversity, anti-corruption policies, and shareholder rights
