Job Description

This position is required for accreditation. CAAHEP standard III B.2 requires an operational medical director to maintain accreditation for an EMS program.

This role provides medical oversight of the Laurel Ridge EMS program. Duties include but are not limited to:

Review and approve the educational content of the program for appropriateness. Medical accuracy and reflection of evidence-informed prehospital practice.

Review and approve minimum numbers of patient contacts and standards.

Review and approve the process used to evaluate students in didactic, laboratory, clinical and field internship.

Review students’ progress and determine appropriate corrective actions when necessary.

Ensure competence of each graduate in all domains.

Engage in cooperative involvement with program director and educational interaction of physicians with students.
