Overview

The Saanich Peninsula Hospital (SPH) Emergency Medicine Department is seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide locum coverage. SPH is a 65-bed acute care community hospital with an 18-bed emergency department that treats about 31,000 patients per year. The ED serves as the primary referral hospital for the Southern Gulf Islands, with an estimated catchment population of about 87,000. The ED is staffed by a group of 16 full-time and part-time emergency physicians, scheduled over five shifts per day with 12 hours of double coverage. Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Palliative Care and Anesthesiology are available during daytime hours, with additional Specialists in the community. Tertiary care support and consultants are 30 minutes away at Victoria General Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital.
