Function of Position:

Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Academic Coaches are professional staff who work with students enrolled in MCC's Academic English Essentials course and accompanying lab (TRS 090 & 091) to help them to develop effective reading and learning strategies and become self-regulated learners. The role of the Embedded Academic Coach is to help the TRS-090/TRS-091 student improve academically by identifying strengths and areas for improvement and designing appropriate activities to improve learning. The Academic Coach is embedded directly into one or more sections of MCC's Academic English Essentials course and accompanying lab (TRS 090 & 091) to model best practices and serve as a liaison between faculty and students.
