We’ll cover clinics in the Bath & North East Somerset and West Wiltshire areas. This is a part‑time role, 3 days per week. You’ll work mostly 08:15‑16:15 with occasional Saturday mornings.

The Role

The role of diabetic eye screener is an important part of helping people living with diabetes.

• We screen eyes on a regular basis to find signs of diabetic retinopathy – a disease caused by changes to the blood vessels in the back of the eye due to diabetes. If untreated these changes can lead to sight loss.
• The screener takes photographs and OCT scans of the retina to check for signs of damage to the vessels, does an initial review of the images and sends them for full assessment (grading).
