Summary
The purpose of this role is to perform Customs business activities. The Customs Specialist is responsible for transactions with U.S. Customs (CBP) concerning the entry and admissibility of merchandise. This includes conducting effective research, communicating with the client and/ or CBP, managing Customs entries, monitoring clearance, and recordkeeping.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review of Customs documents to be filed with CBP ensuring accuracy.Verify classification and valuation with the importer when necessary.Ensure compliance with customs regulations.Obtain the appropriate documents required to support claims or disclaims.Ensure the proper and timely payment of duties, taxes, or other charges assessed or collected by CBP on merchandise by reason of its importation.Maintain documents required under 19 CFR 163.
