Job Summary

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery. The successful applicant will join a team of 16 consultants within the Liver Unit at QEHB, operating across the Trust’s liver services.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic cover for HPB and Liver Transplant surgery, both in normal working hours and on call.
• Contribute to anaesthetic cover for a range of surgical specialty lists.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessments for complex hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplantation.
• Manage peri‑operative care including coagulation monitoring, inotropic support, renal support, massive haemorrhage management and use of invasive monitoring.
• Attend HPB and Liver Transplant audit and governance meetings.
• Participate in clinical governance including quality and effectiveness monitoring.
