POSITION DESCRIPTION:

+ Functions under the direction of the SCCC Public Safety shift supervisor, typically Captain or Lieutenant. Incumbents are given directions regarding assignments, briefing on current problems at the beginning of the shift and instruction on college-wide communication messages effecting operations.

+ Controls base, fixed or mobile communication systems. Maintains status and control over all mobile radio units in service. Monitors all incoming two-way radio calls and communicates the department messages.

+ Reports emergency situations to supervisory personnel, including the inability to establish communications with a mobile unit.
