The CPS - Ambulatory Care practices in the primary care setting. Responsibilities The CPS - Ambulatory Care practices in the primary care setting. The CPS's functions include designing, implementing, assessing, monitoring and documenting patient centric therapeutic plans utilizing the most effective, least toxic and most economical medication treatments; helping achieve positive outcomes through direct and indirect interactions with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams; performing physical assessments; and ordering laboratory and other tests to help determine efficacy and toxicity of medication therapy. Additional CPS functions include but are not limited to performing formulary utilization and quality assurance reviews, addressing drug information questions and other specified clinical functions.
