The Council’s commitment to this programme has seen significant investment into our tree management programme and Tree Team in recent years.

Trees play an especially important role in enhancing the quality of life across the borough by, amongst other things, improving air quality by acting as natural air filters removing dust, smoke and fumes from the atmosphere, removing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. The Council’s Tree Team is responsible for the maintenance and care of around 80,000 trees on Council owned land and over 500Ha of public woodland.
