Chaplaincy Volunteer

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) seeks Chaplaincy Volunteers to support the Lead Chaplain across hospitals in the West and East Clusters of Acute and Community services. Volunteers will engage with patients, relatives, staff and chaplaincy colleagues regardless of denomination, faith or belief. Applicants must have good standing within their faith community and ideally have prior pastoral experience. Applicants must be over 18 years old and live within the local Cumberland area.

Main duties

• Respectfully approach patients and introduce yourself and your role.
• Listen to patient or carer stories.
• Promote the work of the Chaplaincy in general.
• Build rapport with patients, staff and visitors.
• Pray with a patient if requested or refer to an appropriate colleague.
