The chaplain provides spiritual counsel, comfort and pastoral ministry to the spiritual needs of patients and families as assigned. This individual provides a pastoral perspective when consulting with staff, patients and families regarding ethical, moral or personal issues. The chaplain is skilled in crisis and bereavement counseling and is an active participant in interdisciplinary patient care team. This individual promotes a healing environment enhancing spiritual and mental health for both patients and staff. The chaplain's duties include providing sacraments / rituals from many faith traditions of patients, relatives and staff as requested. May require being an Independent Living Donor Advocate (ILDA) after the conclusion of training. This person may serve in advance care planning role after training.
