Position Overview
The cardiac sonographer performs routine and complex echocardiography. Prepares and positions patient for echocardiography exam and explains procedure. Operates cardiac ultrasound, doppler and similar equipment to perform procedures according to physician's directive. Observes the screen during the scan to ensure a satisfactory image for diagnostic purposes making adjustments as required.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Performs routine and complex echocardiography
+ Prepares patients for procedures, explains procedures to patients
+ Reports changes in patient condition to medical staff
+ Provides an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist
+ Evaluates quality of sonograms and determines if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated
