The function partners with executive management in the assessment and oversight of business risks, central management of control programs governance, establishment of reporting, implementation of corporate programs and business solutions related to operational, compliance and technology risks. State Street’s Business Risk Management function is an independent function within the first line of defense, which acts as a valued partner to support business executives across our legal entities and global business lines. The function supports business line management in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk, whilst cultivating practices which enable a balance of business unit performance with risk and compliance objectives.
