Position Overview
Background
The mission of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is to "promote public safety and strengthen domestic security by providing services in partnership with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to prevent, investigate, and solve crime while protecting Florida's citizens and visitors.
In support of this mission, Section 943.051, Florida Statutes, designates FDLE as the state's central repository for criminal history records.
The Criminal Justice Information Program, acting as the state's central criminal justice information repository, shall:
Collect, process, store, maintain and disseminate criminal justice information and records necessary to the operation of the criminal justice information system of the department.
Develop systems that inform one criminal justice agency of the criminal justice information held or maintained by other criminal justice agencies.
