Biomedical Science Assistant (Higher level)

We are seeking a dedicated Biomedical Science Assistant (Higher level) to support the Scientific and Consultant teams in the department of Histopathology, based at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Main duties of the job

• Specimen reception, dissection transcription, specimen processing, and other duties such as computer data entry, slide scanning for digital pathology, operation of laboratory equipment, filing and retrieval of specimens, glass slides and paraffin blocks.
• Pre‑analytical processing of samples including receipt, preparation and processing.
• Handle direct queries from medical staff, nursing staff and other service users including telephone enquiries and taking appropriate action.
• Preparation of slides to load and unload digital pathology scanners.
