[logo for Montana Department of Justice] *Division Overview:* The*Montana Forensic Science Division (FSD)*is an**internationally accredited state*Forensic Laboratory*, processing various forms of crime scene evidence received from law enforcement agencies across the state of Montana. FSD’s mission is to provide accurate, objective and timely forensic analysis in support of the Montana criminal justice community. Department of Justice employs approximately 35 FSD forensic analysts who complete critical work that includes: identifying mysterious powders or pills, determining quantities of various substances in a person’s body, extracting DNA from a blood stain, matching fired bullets to the gun, or revealing fingerprints on ATM machine, to name a few examples. The FSD is also home to the State Medical Examiner’s office.
