Job Purpose
An automotive machinist specializes in repairing and fabricating internal combustion engine components by interpreting technical blueprints to operate machinery like lathes, mills, and grinders. Key responsibilities include diagnosing engine faults, surfacing heads and blocks, boring cylinders, grinding crankshafts, and inspecting parts for precision, safety, and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Engine Component Reconditioning: Rebuild, repair, and renew engine components like cylinder heads, engine blocks, and crankshafts.
- Machinery Operation: Set up and operate precision tools including grinders, boring machines, and lathes to machine parts to exact specifications.
- Inspection & Diagnosis: Dismantle, clean, and thoroughly inspect engine parts for cracks, wear, and other faults.
