Position Overview
**Background:** The Plastic Surgery Department at the University of Virginia is the oldest department in the country with an extraordinary history in craniofacial surgery. With the support of the institution and strong internal resources, the department has been growing and evolving into a more comprehensive unit. This current position seeks to bolster the current Craniofacial Surgery efforts within the department as well as expand into other offerings. There are opportunities to perform care for patients with cleft lip and palate, orthognathic surgery, craniosynostosis, as well as general pediatric plastic surgery conditions including vascular anomalies and benign lesions. Adult craniofacial surgery would also be a major focus of the position with opportunities for growth in facial trauma, facial femininization, facial and scalp reconstruction, and facial aesthetic surgery including rhinoplasty.
