*Position Summary* The Assistant Bridge Preservation Designer (CE II) will work in the bridge preservation unit as a technical reviewer and project designer. The Bridge Preservation Unit sits at Headquarters under the Bridge Section. This unit is responsible for delivery of the bridge preservation program, technical review of bridge preservation projects, and assisting the Districts as needed to advertise and prepare contracts. The unit develops standards and details related to bridge preservation. Additionally, the unit performs in-house designs for full projects and work orders as needed. Incumbents of this position with normal supervision from engineers of higher grade prepare structural design calculations for bridge repairs such as bridge deck replacements and beam end repairs for bridges of normal complexity, prepare bridge design plans and details, bridge repair quantities and special provisions, and review shop drawings and construction procedures.
