Position Overview

SMHC is a 252-bed facility that provides long-term mental health inpatient treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system.

SMHC provides recovery-oriented programs and services to male and female patients with the goal of returning them to their community of choice. SMHC has five program areas Acute, Rehabilitation, Geriatric, Forensic and Acquired Brain Injury. The Area Secretary must be able to build and maintain positive work relationships and work with multidisciplinary teams.

The Area Secretary provides administrative support to treatment team members on the patient care areas of Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC). The incumbent assists in promoting patient recovery by maintaining patient files and ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
