Job Description
The Public Information Unit in NYCHA’s Law Department works closely with internal business partners to respond to requests for documents and information from members of the public, the media, litigants, and federal, state, and local agencies. Collaborative research, records review, and factual investigation form the core of the unit’s work.
Reporting to the Chief of Public Information and Chief Records Officer, responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide legal review and advice for the Public Information team as they prepare to produce records in response to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, subpoenas, investigations, and other inquiries.
- Perform sophisticated legal research and analysis in the areas of document disclosure, privilege, and records management.
